The assignment for the blog was to write about any questions that you might have about the Bible. That's a pretty broad topic and a little intimidating as well. What if I don't know anything about the Bible? What if what I think I know is wrong? I really don't know how to ask questions about it.
As the teacher in the class you might get the impression that I know a great deal about the Bible. Well, I do, sort of. I have studied it since I was a kid and I did take two Bible classes at seminary. But, that doesn't mean that I know everything. There are still many things that I have questions about and things I have yet to learn.
For example: Does it matter if I know the place where a verse is found if I can quote the verse? Which books are the most important for me to know about? Are there parts that its okay to skip over? How did people figure out who wrote some of the books if no author is mentioned? These are just some of the questions that come up when I think about the Bible.
The one thing I do know for sure is that is okay to have questions about the Bible. It's also okay to ask questions that teachers and pastors might not be able to answer off the top of their head, if at all. The idea here is to get you thinking more deeply about these writings and to make reading the Bible part of your daily lives. The more you read the more you'll know. It also might mean the more questions you'll have, but that's okay. As you progress on your spiritual journey you will learn that searching for answers is part of the fun.
